Learn and Live was started in 1989
and was directly responsible for the legislation requiring persons
who supervise learner drivers to be at least 21 and have a minimum 3 years
experience as a fully-qualified driver.
Since 1990, the campaign has been lobbying for a
compulsory probationary period for newly-qualified drivers, together with
common-sense proposals to reduce the horrendous accident rate amongst this
group.
Learn and Live is now campaigning for a Graduated Driving Licence (GDL) which incorporates our previous proposals and which has been shown to reduce death and injuries in areas where it has already been adopted.
Our proposals are listed below and it is clear that we are well on the
way to achieving many of our original aims.
