Department of Transport publishes consultation document on driver training!
Read Learn and Live's response!
Just as there is increasing evidence of how well Graduated Driving Licences with restrictions work, the proposals have dismissed this system to improve road safety.

Younger children will happily produce projects on the subject but will they actually put these into practice when they are newly-qualified drivers?

Please contact your MPs and urge them to listen to informed opinion and their own Transport Select Committee.

She always refused to bow down to political expediency and made no distinction between political parties. She will be sorely missed by anyone who was passionate about reducing death and injury on our roads.

Minister announces possible changes to the UK Driver Training System.
Unless this incorporates a Graduated Driving Licence any measures are doomed to failure. Learn and Live says "increasing supervised practice is welcome if it is compulsory.

"The Driving Standards Agency already takes Arrive Alive into schools and log books are already used by driving instructors. School driver education has already failed to save lives abroad."

A Norwich Union press report states that young driver accidents rates have increased. Claims by young drivers have gone up by more than 300% over the last 5 years.

This increase is caused by drink driving and passenger distraction!

Research proves the benefits of restricting the carriage of young passengers with inexperienced young drivers.

Passenger restrictions became law for new teenage drivers in 1998. Passengers with young drivers have reduced by 25%,
it is estimated that this has saved 8 lives and 684 injuries over 3 years.

CANNABIS DRIVING RISK

Norwegian Research has shown that driving with even a low concentration of cannabis in the blood increases the risk of becoming responsible in fatal and injury crashes. The more you have in your blood stream, the more likely you are to crash.
